Truro filmmakers earn prize in institute training course

TRURO – Two local filmmakers are one of four teams selected for the National Screen Institute’s 2013 Drama Prize.

Andre Pettigrew, producer, and writer/director Leah Johnston have put together a film called ‘Some Things Won’t Sleep’ that earned them the spot.

The prize provides $10,000 cash and up to $25,000 in services toward the development and production of a short film to the winners.

Johnston and Pettigrew will receive customized training in Winnipeg by industry experts in writing, directing and producing. Guidance and mentorship will follow them through various stages of filmmaking over the next year in their home community.
