The Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Integrated Child Exploitation and Vice Unit laid the charges against Shubenacadie’s Donald Wiliam Moore and Pierre (Rick) Joseph Simon of Hilden.

They are two of five men who allegedly agreed to pay for sex with what they believed to be a 16-year-old female online.

During the four-day operation, a police officer posed as a 16-year-old female online. Police arranged the sting after noticing an increase in the amount of young women engaged in online prostitution.

Police say the undercover officer exchanged hundreds of emails with adult men and arranged meetings for sexual services to take place at local hotels.

The five men were arrested after showing up at the hotel rooms.

The other three individuals charged are Mitchell Gary Kays-Rose, 25, Alan Tek, 29, and Peter Lee White, 39, all of Halifax.

Police say the five men are each charged with using a computer to communicate with a person under 18 and for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

They have all been released and will appear in Halifax provincial court on April 2.
