TRURO - The K-9 unit of the Truro Police Service was called into use this morning to locate a CEC student who had departed from the school.

“Yes, there was a K-9 unit called into the school to help them track down a student,” said Debbie Buott-Matheson, spokeswoman for the 
Chignecto-Central Regional School Board. “It was done strictly for the safety of that student. “ The student had gone off the property and they were concerned for his safety.”

The student was subsequently located but Truro Police Inspector Robert Hearn said he was not at liberty to discuss further details about the case.
