Chris Nelson, who organizes the ice drags, confirmed Thursday afternoon that the event is now scheduled for Feb. 16.
Organizers are still hoping to have a huge crowd for the event, which draws roughly 110 racers each year.
“We’re aiming for about 2,500 spectators this year,” said Nelson, adding numbers last year were “way down” due to rainy weather.
“Normally we have around 2,000 come to watch, and our racers come as far away as Quebec.”
The races scheduled for this weekend were to start at 12 p.m., however the change to next weekend will also see a start time of 11 a.m.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the test track opens at the same time. Canteen services will be available and a medical team and safety services will be on site.
The lake is Zamboni groomed for its racers, and there is a lot of parking and unloading spots for those racing their snowmobiles.
