TRURO – Colchester County Council has approved a $2,000 funding request for the Truro Theatre Society to support a play highlighting domestic abuse.

The play, called Invisible Prisons, was written by Portipique artist Joy Laking and will be presented at the Marigold Cultural Centre March 8 and 9.

"After interviewing many folks who have experienced domestic abuse, I have distilled their stories into 14 linked monologues," Laking recently told council during a presentation to request funding support.

"I found the presentation and the whole idea very insightful," said Coun. Tom Taggart. "I think it's a worthy cause."

Council made its decision Thursday night.
