With colder weather coming for Friday (Environment Canada is calling for a high of -11 C), Johnson is hoping the work being done on the outdoor rinks will stick around and people will have more of a chance to use the rinks.

Wednesday's forecast is calilng for snow beginning in the afternoon, amounting to two centimetres, with another five overnight.

Thursday's temperature could be as high as +3 C.

I commend the town on providing these outdoor rinks, especially so the children that cant afford the luxury of skating on the indoor rinks. My only misunderstanding is the condition of these outdoor rinks, They are full of dangerous holes etc. , when if flooded at the proper time were done(at late hours of the night) the ice would be smooth as glass. Now i am sure this is a money issue, but am surely convinced that there would be enough volunteers who would gladly take on the task of doing the flooding at say midnight. This would ensure a safer environment and a more enjoyable experience for those who love the experience of skating on outdoor facilities.A friend of mine broke their arm on one of these rinks last year as a direct result of the very poor condition of the rinks surfaces.I see we are in fir a long cold snap, i would hope the Town Recreation Dept. will do their best to have these rinks in the best possible conditions for the coming weeks.Thank you for your continued effort tho at providing these wonderful environments for families and their children and skating enthusiasts of all ages.
