The special event with the Heart and Stroke Foundation will begin at 1 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Glengarry.

The foundation’s annual heart rally is an opportunity for those participating in Heart Month to pick up their fundraising materials and learn more about the impact of community fundraising events in Nova Scotia.

Key event activities will include guest speaker Dr. Chris Shields, a Hearth and Stroke Foundation funded-researcher.

Shields, an associate professor with Acadia University’s School of Recreation Management and Kinesiology, will discuss his research in childhood physical inactivity and obesity in the province.

An Emergency Health Services paramedic will host an automated external defibrillator (AED) demonstration.
