The milestone will be celebrated throughout the year with a wide array of events paying tribute to the contributions of volunteer mentors, past and present, and how their work has benefited local children and teens.
One of the biggest events of the year is ‘The Big Gala,’ which will be held on May 2. Bigs, littles and community supporters will be treated to a very special evening.
Other activities include the annual Bowl for Kids Campaign (Tatamagouche on March 22, Truro on March 23) with a theme of ’35 years ago,’ and a ‘men’s night out’ in April, followed by a ‘ladies night out’ in October.
September will see an open house at the Logan Street office, with an appreciation barbecue in Tatamagouche in June.
Some of the agency’s top community supporters will be honoured throughout the year with volunteers delivering cakes to their businesses.
Throughout the year, the public will hear about how volunteers are helping youth in need of guidance find a better path in life. Every day, volunteers listen, spend time, talk and set positive examples for the youth.
The anniversary celebration isn’t just about celebrating, but also about inspiring more acts of mentoring.
With many children waiting for a volunteer, the agency is challenging the community to step up to help the youth, who just need a little attention, to develop into the great kids they could become.
