TRURO – Ski enthusiasts who haven’t been able to enjoy their sport because of a lack of equipment have good news.
The Town of Truro’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is loaning skis and related equipment to people who don’t have their own.
A recreation report to Truro town council on Monday indicates cross-country skis, boots and poles, in a variety of sizes, are available, free of charge, to borrow this winter.
Skis for the loan program come from the Truro Cross Country Ski Club and rentals are daily or weekend based, and go hand-in-hand with the town’s 12 kms of trails in Victoria Park.
Equipment can be picked up and dropped off at the Douglas Street Recreation Centre between Monday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by calling 893-6078. For week night and Saturday loans, call the after-hour number (893-6095).
The recreation department also confirms a ski hotline has also been created to check on the park’s trail conditions by calling 895-7078. A map of the ski trails is also available on the Town of Truro’s website at www.truro.ca.
