The Apple Lane resident awoke to the smell of smoke at about 10:30 p.m.
After collapsing, paramedics treated the man at the scene, however it’s unknown as to whether he was transported to hospital for further assessment.
The fire damaged the basement of the home, which also received extensive smoke and water damage throughout.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, however the public relations officer with the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade doesn’t believe it’s suspicious.
