BIBLE HILL - An effort to win money for the Scotia Pool through an online competition has ended.
The Bible Hill-based pool was entered into last fall's Aviva Community Fund online competition in an attempt to receive upwards of $100,000. The contest was based on community voting and the pool advanced to the third round, which ended at the end of November.
Almost 100 semifinalists were expected to advance to the finals in December. That number will be reduced to 30 finalists and a panel of judges is expected to decide the winner this month.
Glenda Bower, a spokeswoman for the Scotia Pool Users Group, confirmed with the Truro Daily News on Friday that Scotia Pool is no longer in the competition.
She said, however, efforts continue to be made to help protect the facility's future, including a new board of directors that was created in December and the creation of a long-term strategy to help keep the pool open past Sept. 30 of this year.
