Town of Truro ready to ring in a New Year

TRURO - Truro area residents and visitors will bid farewell to 2012 and welcome 2013 in style with an afternoon and evening of free family fun.

  The Town of Truro Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture will host its New Year's Eve on the Town celebration on Monday, Dec. 31.

All events, including music, magic, swimming, skating and more, are free of charge, are family-friendly and are alcohol free.

       Festivities begin at Douglas Street Recreation Centre where the young and young at heart can enjoy crafts, magic and an early kiddie countdown from 3 to 5 p.m. Crafts will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. and Magician Mister J will provide entertainment between 4 and 5 p.m.

        Family swimming will be held at Scotia Pool in Bible Hill from 6 to 8 p.m.

        Then head on over to the Colchester Legion Stadium where two bands will perform and where free skating will be held. Tim Bowers will take to the stage in the upstairs community room from 8 to 10 p.m. Paul Randy Mingo will perform downstairs on the arena-level mainstage from 9 p.m. to midnight. Fireworks will be held outside the stadium at midnight.
