TRURO – Sarah Fougere placed in the top 10 in two categories in a prestigious Highland dance scholarship held recently aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean.

Fougere, 13, placed fifth in the scholarship class and sixth in solo choreography at the British Association of Teachers of Dancing North American Sadie Simpson Highland Scholarships.

The Valley teenager and Truro's Sarah MacDonald, who did not place, competed in a class of 57 dancers in the senior group of the scholarship event, which ran from Oct. 25 to 28.

The competitors were from throughout Canada and the United States. The teachers are top dance teachers from Scotland, Canada and the U.S.
