TRURO - A 26-year-old Economy man will spend the next 41 months in federal custody for an incident on New Years Day that left a Bass River woman paralyzed.

Ryan Harvey McLellan was sentenced to 43 months custody, however two of those months have been deemed served by his time spent in remand.

McLellan pleaded guilty at an earlier date to charges of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and fleeing the scene of an accident.

The victim, 23-year-old Holly Grue, suffered numerous injuries and is paralyzed from the waist down.

He had also pleaded guilty to four additional charges from an Aug. 31 incident that saw him flee from police in a stolen vehicle while intoxicated.

When McLellan is released from custody, he will be under an eight-year driving prohibition. A DNA sample order was granted, and he's to pay $87,835 in restitution to Grue.
