HALIFAX — The case of a woman dubbed the “Black Widow” is due in a Nova Scotia court today.
But 77-year-old Melissa Ann Weeks, who is charged with the attempted murder of her husband, isn’t expected to be in the Sydney courtroom where the hearing is being held.
Crown attorney Dan MacRury says Weeks will appear via video link from a Halifax correctional facility.
Weeks’s lawyer, Michael Kuna, confirms his client won’t be in court, but hasn’t elaborated.
Weeks was charged earlier this month with attempted murder and administering a noxious thing after 75-year-old Fred Weeks fell ill at a Sydney bed and breakfast.
She was previously convicted of manslaughter in the 1991 death of another husband.
