BIBLE HILL - A story of tragedy and inspiration will be heard in Bible Hill tonight when a burn survivor recalls how his life changed after being severely burned in a fire.
Newfoundland-based Michael Gaultois was injured in a cabin fire in Irishtown, N.L. in 1991. At the age of 15, Gaultois suffered third-degree burns to almost 90 per cent of his body in the fire, which claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy. Gaultois then endured 16 operations and intensive therapy.
Since his ordeal, Gaultois has had a passion for motivational speaking and has been sharing his story with youth, police, fire, medical personnel and volunteer organizations. He will detail his journey tonight at the Bible Hill fire hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the event, which is hosted by the Colchester Firefighters Association.
Gaultois will also be visiting junior high schools in Colchester County, including Bass River, Brookfield, Tatamagouche, Truro, Onslow and Bible Hill.
