Tractor tour in town to collect for food bank

TRURO - Farm Credit Canada will be in the area on Friday to collect food for the Colchester Food Bank.

The Drive Away Hunger tractor tour will head through several communities to collect both food and cash donations for the food bank.

The organization's goal across the country is to collect one million pounds of food and $500,000 for food banks throughout Canada.

Since 2004, the program has collected more than 7.8 million pounds of food.

The tour itinerary includes stops at:

- Valley Elementary School (8:45 a.m.)

- Bible Hill East Court Road Elementary School (9:15 a.m.)

- Bible Hill Central School (9:40 a.m.)

- Dalhousie University Agriculture Campus Ruminant Animal Centre at the farm located off of College Road (10 a.m.)

- Harmony Heights School (11:15 a.m.)

- École Acadienne de Truro (11:45 a.m.)

- Hilden Elementary School (12:45 p.m.)

- Brookfield Elementary (1:20 p.m.)

- South Colchester Academy (1:45 p.m.)

- Colchester Food Bank to drop food off (2:30 p.m.)
