Full polls open on Saturday

TRURO – A total of 1,269 Colchester County residents have taken advantage of advance voting for Saturday’s municipal election.

Results from the latest advance poll show that 676 residents turned out to vote on Tuesday. The previous week saw 593 residents voting early.

Mayor Bob Taylor has already been acclaimed along with the incumbent councillors in Districts 1, 2, 4 and eight. As a result, advance voting at those polls recorded lower numbers as the only remaining vote is for the African Nova Scotian school board member.

The advance numbers for Oct. 16 voting by district are:

District 1 - 2;

District 2 - 0;

District 3 - 87;

District 4 - 0;

District 5 - 88;

District 6 - 67;

District 7 - 230;

District 8 - 2;

District 9 - 67;

District 10 - 69;

District 11 - 64.

Total = 676.

    Must be a typo here somewhere. Apparently 696 people voted in District 10 alone, and the total number of voters in the county is 676. Hmm... negative votes? Sounds fishy to me.
