BIBLE HILL – Colchester County residents aren’t alone if they’ve been receiving letters and checks reportedly from Purolator Courier.

Topics :
RCMP , Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre , Atlantic Canada

Over the past week, a number of people in Atlantic Canada, including the county, have received such mail.

The recipients are asked to cash the check and participate in a mystery shoppers program before sending the remaining funds to a third party.

The victim realizes they have been scammed when their bank contacts them stating the check was fake and they are now on the hook for any money spent.

The RCMP is warning residents of the scam. Legitimate businesses would not offer programs such as this.

If anyone receives any checks or letters in the mail similar to this, do not participate and contact your local police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
