NEW GLASGOW – As she looks at the monument dedicated to her friend who went missing, she finds it hard to believe it’s been a year since she last spoke to her.

Morgan Curley was one of many in the community who attended the unveiling of a monument for her friend Amber Kirwan, who went missing exactly one year before the service.

“She was a good friend of mine,” Curley said. “I was with her at Dooley’s the night she went missing. It’s hard to believe a whole year has gone by.”

Curley said she thought the unveiling service was a nice tribute to her friend.

“I’m glad something has been erected so her friends have a place to go and remember her,” she said. “I thought (the service) was really nice.”

“I think it’s really nice that it’s not only for her, but for anyone who has lost someone,” Curley said of the monument.

The monument, erected in Amber's memory was intended to serve as a place for those wishing to remember any victim of tragedy. It even says so on it in writing for those who think otherwise. Yes, it bears her name...because it was dedicated in her honor. Not because shes the only person you're allowed to remember there.

Now hopefully there will be no vandalizing idiots destroying this monument such as they did with the playground.
