STEWIACKE - Two men were arrested Wednesday for being in possession of more than 400 cartons of contraband cigarettes.
The RCMP Customs and Excise Section, with the assistance of Service Nova Scotia's Compliance and Special Investigation's team, arrested a 39-year-old man from Indian Brook and a 49-year-old from Ecum Secum in the Stewiacke area.
The cigarettes were seized during a search of the two vehicles the men were operating on a rural road near Highway 102.
Police have seized both vehicles - a 2002 Chrysler Sebring and a 2010 Ford F150.
Both men face charges under the federal Excise Act and provincial Revenue Act and are scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie provincial court on Dec. 5.
