TRURO - The number of children attending schools in Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is down by more than 300 students this year compared to 2011.
Enrolment figures were provided by the school board this week. They indicate there are 20,946 children attending CCRSB schools this school year compared to 21,293 last year, which equals 347 less students being taught in CCRSB schools.
In Colchester County, statistics show that as of Sept. 30, there are 5,875 students in school this year. In 2011-2012, there were 5,958 students in Colchester County schools, which reflects a decrease of students by 83 compared to last year.
School board officials indicate it's not surprising because school enrolment numbers have been on a decline for a number of years.
