Mother of suspect in kidnapping case charged

TRURO – A Truro woman believed to be the mother of a man charged in a kidnapping and assault case is now facing charges of being an accessory.

Kathy Nash, 56, is facing one count each of being an accessory to kidnapping after the fact, being a party to kidnapping, being an accessory to unlawful confinement after the fact and being a party to unlawful confinement. All charges are alleged to have occurred April 1 in Truro.

Sources have said the woman is Kyle David Ryan Wheaton’s mother. The victim in Nash's charges is the same victim named in Wheaton's.

Wheaton, 26, is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement, kidnapping, public mischief by misleading police and failing to comply with an undertaking, incidents alleged to have occurred between April 1 and 9 in Truro.

Wheaton was also charged with one count each of assault, uttering a threat to cause death and mischief or property damage against the same victim, dating to March 4 in Bible Hill.

He’s facing a charge of failing to comply with an undertaking on April 1 in Truro, as well as failing to appear for identification purposes and failing to attend court on May 14 and 16, respectively.

According to court documents, Nash lives next door to the residence where Wheaton is to reside after being released on a recognizance.

During her first court appearance, Nash requested time to seek counsel. She will return to court on Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m.

Wheaton is to appear on Oct. 31 at 9:30.
