TRURO - A 61-year old Lantz man charged with criminal negligence causing death in a Trans Canada Highway accident had his plea adjourned.

Albert Merle Fleet returns to provincial court on Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. for plea on a charge of criminal negligence causing death by failing to display warning devices, lights, reflective triangles or flares.

On the morning of Jan. 24, a westbound transport truck operated by Grant Donnell of Dieppe, N.B., collided with a stationary transport truck on Highway 104 about two kilometres from the toll plaza.

Fleet was operating the stationary truck, which had pulled off the highway. Part of his truck, however, remained on the road.

Donnell, also 61, died at the scene when his truck immediately caught fire. Passersby attempted to extinguish the fire.
