TRURO - One area of Truro will be lit up for a special event this Friday night.
Residents of the east end of Truro will host up a ‘Light Up the East End' event on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the new Riverfront Park, which is located at the corner of Walker and Bayview streets.
The event is modelled after similar events in Halifax and the Lantern Festival held annually in Newfoundland. Activities will include face painting, lantern decorating, live music by Jesse Thomas and Michael MacLellan and free refreshments.
The gathering is open to everyone, not just residents of the east end of town.
Organizer Kenda MacLellan said the event is to celebrate what the area has to offer.
"The intention is to celebrate and enhance our community and to take pride in it. It is also an opportunity to volunteer," said MacLellan.
Anyone who would like to volunteer or to donate mason jars or craft supplies is asked to contact MacLellan by phone at 843-5995 or through e-mail @ kendamaclellan @gmail.com
