Truro woman sentenced for assault

TRURO - A 27-year-old woman was given a conditional discharge to follow four months probation for pleading guilty to assault.

Amy Jean Dort, of 63 Willow St., entered the guilty plea to the lesser, included offence to an original charge of assault causing bodily harm.

She has until Jan. 3, 2013, to pay a $50 victim fine surcharge.

The incident occurred Dec. 28, 2011, in Salmon River.

Cumberland County man fined for probation breach

TRURO - An Apple River, Cumberland County man was fined a total of $115 after pleading guilty to one count of breaching a probation order condition of not possessing or consuming alcohol.

Nicholas Owen Phinney, 29, of 157 Apple River Rd., has until Dec. 6 to pay a $100 fine and $15 victim fine surcharge.

The incident occurred June 17 in Great Village.
