SPRINGHILL – One person is dead and two people were injured following a motor vehicle crash near the Springhill exit of the Trans-Canada Highway on Tuesday.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound vehicle lost control, crossed the median flipped into the ditch.
The driver, a 64-year-old Halifax man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 65-year-old passenger from Great Britain was airlifted to Halifax in critical condition.
A second passenger, a 51-year-old Halifax woman, was transported to Cumberland County Health Care Center with serious injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
The RCMP were called to the scene at 12:43 p.m. and Highway 104, eastbound, was closed for most of the afternoon but re-opened at 6 p.m.
