TRURO - With many residents and businesses still cleaning up after Monday's rain and subsequent flooding, some are wondering if there will be any assistance.
There is a joint program in place between the provincial and federal governments. The Disaster Financial Assistance Program requires there to be at least $1 million in eligible damages before the province can submit a claim to the federal government.
Cleanup and damage assessment could take several weeks before the government can make a recommendation about submitting a claim for financial assistance.
Anyone with damages should carefully document their damages by taking pictures and keeping any receipts and invoices in case the program is available and they can apply for assistance.
