TRURO - Social dance classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced students will be offered this fall, sponsored by the Town of Truro Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture.
The 10-week social dance courses will begin Sept. 25 and run on consecutive Tuesday nights until the end of November.
Well-known instructors Wendy and Barrie Bent will lead the one-hour classes. The cost is $75 per couple, including tax. Classes will take place in the gymnasium of Douglas Street Recreation Centre.
Cathy von Kintzel, special events and culture co-ordinator for Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture, said the department partnered with the Bents for the first time earlier this year and easily filled two beginner classes.
"Many of those students will be moving onto the intermediate level, leaving plenty of room for newcomers who want to enjoy the fun, socializing and exercise that social dance offers," von Kintzel said.
The Bents hold bronze and silver medallions in modern and Latin dancing. They will teach students to slow waltz, fox-trot, jive, cha-cha, Texas waltz, two-step, cotton eye Joe and more.
