UPDATED 1:55 P.M.

The Canadian Red Cross has set up two reception centres for affected residents. They are located at the Bible Hill fire hall at 69 Pictou Rd. and Immanual Baptist Church on the top of Young Street in Truro.

Colchester Emergency Management is urging people to stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency. A list of provincial road closures can be obtained by calling the 511 information number.

Residents are encouraged to voluntarily evacuate if you reside in a flooded area.

ALSO: Reports indicate the only way in and out of Truro is by the Walmart highway exit.

Also locally, Stanfields has been evacuated and lumber from Sproule Lumber in Valley has been spotted floating into the Salmon River.

UPDATED 1:40 P.M.

The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board main office in Truro has closed, however, all schools except CEC remain open to the end of the school day.

School board officials indicate buses will proceed along their normal routes, however, if drivers find road closures or impassible conditions and are unable to return students to their normal pick-up/drop-off locations they will return students to the school. School administrators will then begin contacting parents to determine the best way to get students home.

For information on bus routes, contact the bus garage in your area:

- Truro Bus Garage - 896-5797

- Hants East Bus Garage - 758-4614

- West Pictou Bus Garage - 485-7968

- Amherst Bus Garage - 661-2449

ALSO: People who are being evacuated from their homes in and around the Farnham Road area, including the nearby trailer park, will have assistance.

Reports indicate a bus system is being put in place for those requiring help out of that area. They will be taken to the Red Cross station, which is reportedly being set up at Immanuel Baptist Church on the top of Young Street.
