TRURO – The fields next to the Farmers Cheese Outlet Store in Salmon River are flooding on Monday morning.

Flooding has occured throughout the area, including Truro, Salmon River, Bible Hill, Valley and North River and has resulted in some residents being evacuated from their homes in the North River and Farnham Road areas. Traffic is being rerouted throughout the area and there are reports of the shoulders on some roads being washed out.

Classes at the Cobequid Educational Centre (CEC) have been cancelled for the remainder of the day due to the threat of imminent flooding of the school. Busses will begin arriving at 10:30 a.m. to take students home. Walking students are also being dismissed at this time.

Parents wishing to pick their children up at the school are reminded to drive with extreme caution as some roads around CEC have flooded or have been closed.

This notice applies only to CEC. All other schools remain open at this time.

Questions about busing may be directed to the Truro Bus Garage at 897-5767.
