TRURO – Emergency officials area asking motorists to slow down and use extreme caution this morning as several roads in the county are experiencing flood conditions. RCMP Cpl. Trevor Allen said police and fire departments have responded to many calls this morning because of flood conditions and the Department of Infrastructure Renewal and Transportation are dealing with more than 30 washed out areas. At least three motor vehicle incidents had been reported before 8 a.m.
One occurred in the North River area near Stewart’s Bridge where floodwaters were covering the road and two others were on Highway 102 near Stewiacke.
Park Street in Truro was closed at about 8 a.m.
There is severe flooding in North River and traffic is being detoured around the area through the Brookside Road. That road is also experiencing flood conditions with several shoulders washed away and water running across the road.
