Police have arrested a man in the Sept. 6 child luring case.
On Sept. 6 at 1:36 p.m., police responded to the Superstore on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had approached a four-year-old boy and taken him to the washroom upstairs. The boy was reported missing and staff took steps to locate the child, which included covering the exits.
The man left the washroom with the child but upon reaching the main floor he walked out of the store, leaving the child behind. The child was located unharmed and returned to his parents.
A picture of the suspect was released yesterday in an attempt to identify him.
As a result of tips from the public, investigators were able to learn the man’s identity and arrested him without incident at 9:27 a.m. today, Sept. 7.
He is currently in custody and will be interviewed today. At this time no decision on charges has been made.
Police would like to thank the public for their help.
