The big yellow house on the corner of Willow and Arthur streets was reduced to a pile of rubble after its owners, brothers Fred and Anwar Bitar, made the decision this past winter.
"It is an old building and wasn't an easy decision to make," said Fred as he watched the house come down in pieces.
"We vacated the tenants a long time ago - almost a year ago."
With motorists turning their heads to catch a glimpse of the action, passersby stopped along the sidewalks to also take in the site. Some stood for a while to watch, while others stopped briefly before moving along.
"I liked the house because it was really unique," said Fred. "I liked the looks of it."
The brothers also own the Stonehouse Motel and Restaurant, which sits adjacent to the property with the house. They purchased the business in 1999 and the house shortly thereafter.
They have an idea of what to do with the property once the house is cleaned off, however Fred wouldn't go into details other than to say it would involve the business.
