TRURO: The Colchester East Hants Hospice Society is expanding its services.
One new event is a monthly workshop series beginning with 'Keeping the casseroles coming: building a community that cares.' The workshop is Sept. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jimolly's Café on Inglis Street in Truro. The workshop is for those who are grieving, wish to help someone grieving or want to connect with the community. Pre-registration is until Sept. 12 by calling Sharlene at 893-3265.
A number of other events will be soon taking place including a hospice palliative care conference on Sept. 28 and 29 in Truro, a photography contest encouraging local residents to capture the 'quality of life' with their cameras and the annual Angels Remembered event. This event takes place throughout December and provides an opportunity for families to remember those who have died by placing an angel on Christmas trees that are overseen by the hospice society.
A returning program is a drop-in grief support walking group. The intention is to bring people who are grieving together for socialization and light exercise. The walks take place at Kiwanis Park in Truro on Tuesdays from Sept. 18 to Nov. 6.
For specific details on all the events, call 893-3265.
