STEWIACKE - A fire that left tenants without a home in Stewiacke over the weekend has been deemed suspicious in nature.

The Colchester RCMP is requesting the public's assistance in the Sept. 1 fire.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., volunteer fire departments from Stewiacke and Brookfield responded to 911 calls of a fire at a building on Main Street East. The building included six apartments (five were occupied) and a laundromat.

The fire was eventually distinguished but not before it caused substantial damage. No one was injured.

The RCMP and Nova Scotia Fire Marshal Office are continuing the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Colchester RCMP at 893-6820 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
