TRURO - An Indian Brook man charged with robbing the Stewiacke Pharmacy has been remanded into custody until a bail hearing on Thursday in Shubenacdie.

Jody Raymond Sanipass, 18, was arrested late last week in New Brunswick along with two other individuals.

He is charged with using a firearm (a wooden toy hand gun) in robbing the pharmacy last Tuesday of prescription pills valued at more than $1,000 while also having his face masked by using a cut up T-shirt, sunglasses, a hoodie and ball cap.

Sanipass made an initial appearance in provincial court in Truro on Tuesday.

The arrest was made through the joint efforts of Colchester district RCMP and fellow RCMP members in Elsipogtog, N.B.

Sanipass and two other individuals were arrested without incident in a traffic stop in Elsipogtog. The police investigation also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of prescription pills and cash.

A 20-year-old female was released to appear in provincial court at a later date and a 40-year-old male was released without charges.
