TRURO - The 26-year-old man arrested in Calgary when he was wanted in Truro has been remanded until a show cause hearing on Tuesday.
Kyle David Ryan Wheaton was arrested in Calgary on Tuesday and flown back to Truro. He appeared in provincial court Thursday on charges relating to an alleged kidnapping incident.
He's been charged with assault causing bodily harm, unlawful confinement, kidnapping, public mischief by misleading police and failing to comply with an undertaking.
The Crown is proceeding by way of indictment on the charges, which means Wheaton will face stiffer penalties if convicted.
The Crown was opposed to his release on Thursday and Amber Snow, Wheaton's lawyer for his appearance, requested an adjournment.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between April 1 and 9 in Truro.
Wheaton was also charged with one count each of assault, uttering a threat to cause death and mischief or property damage against the same victim, dating to March 4 in Bible Hill.
He's facing a charge of failing to comply with an undertaking on April 1 in Truro, as well as failing to appear for identification purposes and failing to attend court on May 14 and 16, respectively.
His show cause hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
