TRURO - Knowing how to manage stress before it takes control is the theme of an upcoming workshop in Truro.
A four-week stress reduction workshop will take place at Breathing Space Yoga Studio, on Prince Street, on Aug. 28, Sept. 4, 11 and 18 from 6 to 7:45 p.m.
Lisa MacNutt, a registered private counsellor, elementary school teacher and yoga instructor, will help people navigate through the many facets of stress and ways to reduce it.
"Stress affects every system in our body and the workshop will help develop strategies when we are not stressed so that we can deal with stress properly when it happens," said MacNutt. "How we respond to stress makes all the difference, like using breathing techniques and what our mindset is."
The workshops will include guest speakers and topics such as why stress can be good, how chronic stress affects the body, how people typically react to stress and how to use a variety of techniques to alleviate stress.
MacNutt said this type of workshop is important for people to take advantage of.
"Our lives have come so hectic and busy and with technology and instant gratification we don't take the time" to learn such preventative techniques."
