TRURO - A trial date has been set for next April 23 for a former educational assistant from Truro Junior High School facing sexual assault-related charges.
Todd Canton, 53, of 38 Martha Ave., entered a not guilty plea in provincial court on Wednesday to charges of luring a child over the Internet with sexual intent, invitation to sexual touching and failing to comply with the conditions of a court undertaking by being in an area he had been ordered to remain away from where persons under 16 could reasonably be expected to be present.
A full day has been set aside for the trial.
Canton was charged in January by Truro Police Service following an investigation into an incident alleged to have occurred last December.
