Truro man sentenced to penitentiary for sexual assault
TRURO - A Truro man convicted of sexually assaulting his wife's daughter was sentenced on Friday to 30 months of federal time.
The man's identity along with that of the victim's mother, is banned from publication.
Both were found guilty of several sexually related offences, including engaging in sexual activity with the victim, who was below the age of 18 at the time the incidents occurred.
The mother will be sentenced in August.
Case further adjourned for man who cheated clients out of millions
TRURO - A former mutual fund salesman from Truro charged with fraud has asked for further time to seek legal counsel before entering a plea.
John Alexander Allen, 48, was given until Aug. 1 before being required to return to provincial court in Truro.
Allen is charged with eight counts of fraud and breach of trust, as well as five counts of forgery in which he is alleged to have bilked clients out of an estimated $14 million.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2004 and 2007 when Allen was registered with the Nova Scotia Securities Commission.
