“Prior to arrival officers were advised by the complainant that her boyfriend was drunk and put a propane tank in the oven and turned the oven on,” Inspector Robert Hearn of the Truro Police Service said.
The incident occurred on Logan Street and involved a one of the green, 16.4 oz propane cylinders.
Hearn said police responded quickly and the canister was not in the oven for very long. The Truro Fire department was nonetheless called to assist.
A 38-year-old Truro man was arrested and will be charged with mischief endangering life, assault with a weapon, assault, and breaching a court order not to drink alcohol. A remand is being sought for the accused to appear in Truro Court on Wednesday morning.
The alleged victim, a 25 year old Truro woman, was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention.
