KEMPTOWN - A 26-year-old Colchester County man was arrested for drug possession during a checkpoint conducted by Colchester RCMP and volunteers from the Colchester MADD chapter on Wednesday.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Highway 4, a vehicle entered the checkpoint and officers detected the presence of illegal drugs. Marijuana and more than 100 grams of hashish were seized.
The driver was arrested without incident and will be appearing in Truro Provincial Court on September 19.
These checkpoints are routinely done around the county to deter impaired driving. This particular event resulted in 25 vehicles being checked, and one roadside screening test completed.
