TRURO – A Truro woman missing for the last two days has been found safe, Truro police confirm.
Kashmala Fida, 21, has been taken to Colchester Regional Hospital for observation. She appeared to be in good health.
Once medically cleared Truro Police Service investigators will be speaking with her to determine her whereabouts for the last couple of days.
Truro Police Service received a 911 call at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday to respond to a residence on Lower Truro Rd.. Once officers arrived Fida was located. She was found outside the residence by the occupant of the dwelling.
Fida had missed a medical appointment at the Colchester Regional Hospital on Tuesday and failed to return home as expected after supper that night.
She was last seen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday when she dropped her mother off at work at the Colchester Regional Hospital. The mother’s vehicle, which Fida was driving, was located in the parking lot of the hospital later that day.
Fida lives in Truro with her parents. Friends and family had indicated her disappearance was out of character.
News of Fida going missing quickly went viral on Wednesday with dozens of Facebook posts and Tweets posted, from across North America and even the United Kingdom.
King’s College’s Twitter account was also very busy spreading the word.
“The response has been tremendous, which is really telling of how King’s operates. Everyone is so involved and cares about what’s happening in the community,” said Nick Stark, president of the King’s Student Union.
Fida served this past year as president of the residence Alexandra Hall. She is employed by the front desk of the same residence and active in the school’s yearbook.
Truro Police would like to thank the members of the public and the media outlets who assisted them in locating Fida.
