TRURO - A former teacher's assistant charged with sex-related charges had his matter adjourned until Aug. 1.
Todd Canton, 53, of Truro, didn't appear in provincial court Monday morning, however, his lawyer, Amber Snow, appeared on his behalf.
Snow told the court she needs additional time and requested the adjournment.
Canton, who has been charged with luring a child over the Internet, invitation to sexual touching and failing to comply with his undertaking, will appear at 9:30 a.m. that day.
The sexual charges are alleged to have occurred on Dec. 29, 2011, while the breach charge has a date of May 23.
Canton was a teacher's assistant at Truro Junior High School before his arrest at the end of January and had been dismissed by the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board on Jan. 10.
He's scheduled to appear in Truro provincial court at 9:30 a.m. on July 9 on all charges.
