BIBLE HILL - The Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Commission will be forgiven some of its debt to the Village of Bible Hill.
Village commissioners discussed the exhibition commission's $1-million debt this week and legal opinion was sought regarding the village's ability to briefly suspend billing the exhibition commission.
After a five-minute in-camera meeting on Tuesday night, village commissioners decided to draft an agreement between the village and exhibition commission excusing the NSPE commission of payment for this fiscal year. Village clerk Bob Christianson said the total value would be about $20,000.
"The exhibition commission is going through hard financial times. It has a long history in this community and touches a lot of people, so we are trying to assist it to get back on its feet," said Christianson of the village commission's decision.
Village chairman Tom Burke was not a part of the decision-making because he recently agreed to sit on the NSPE board as one of the local municipal government representatives.

I'm finding it a little rough too lately, may I be excused of my property taxes this year?
