More than 300 graduates of the Nova Scotia Community College Truro campus file into the gymnasium Wednesday morning for the ceremony.
Just over 350 students received their diplomas and certificates, while celebrating the support they've received during their academic journeys.
Virginia Michael, a graduate of the Tourism Management program, was valedictorian. Michael is a two-time NSCC graduate, completing the Adult Learning Program in 2010 before beginning Tourism Management, offered in collaboration with Millbrook First Nation.
"My experience at NSCC is something I will never forget," said Michael, who credits her time in ALP with helping her become who she is today. "It feels great to be a positive role model for my children and my community."
After graduation, she plans to bring her knowledge and skills to her work at the Indian Brook band office and as a community volunteer.
