Engineered Coated Products L.P. on Abbey Road will receive more than $52,000 from the provincial Productivity Investment Program, or PIP, to upgrade their equipment and also train employees on the technology.
Premier Darrell Dexter joined about 50 of the employees to make the announcement of $52,590.
"Investing to help Nova Scotia businessess beome more productive and competitive is a critical part of jobsHere, Nova Scotia's plan to grow the provincial economy," he said.
PIP's capital investment incentive will provide $32,345 for the purchase of new equipment that will find defects before products have left the production line. It will be comprised of a computer, two cameras and a lighting system. The business currently has an employee scanning each piece on the line, however the new equipment will be more efficient, allowing the company to make a better quality product at a lower cost.
PIP's workplace innovation and productivity skills incentive will provide the company with $20,245 to train eight of the current electrical staff how to use the software and equipment.
