BIBLE HILL - Workshops dealing with agriculture on an international basis are taking place at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
There are workshops today at the NSAC in conjunction with International Development Week, which runs until Friday. The workshops are open to the public and begin at 8 a.m. with one on impressions of a summer abroad in Ethiopia. The event is in the Cox Institute, Room 24, until 9 a.m.
From 11 to 11:50 a.m., a workshop on agricultural education and international development will take place in Room 31 of Cox Institute. That session will be followed by one from noon to 12:50 p.m., also in Cox Institute in Room 24, on planting trees and growing communities.
On Feb. 23 and 24 a two-day international workshop on precision agriculture technologies will be held. Participants will include individuals from high value crop producers, academia, industry, government and non-government organizations that work on or are interested in the sustainable development and adoption of precision agriculture technologies.
The inaugural event will include demonstrations and keynote speakers such as Minister of Agriculture John MacDonell on Feb. 23 and speakers from Maine and Florida on Feb. 24, which will also feature research, technology development and a panel discussion.
The goal is to advance the sustainable development and adoption of precision agriculture technologies and to integrate the technologies into current production systems so site specific management decisions can be made to improve crop productivity and reduce agrochemical use.
