TRURO - The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is preparing to honour its outstanding teachers, and requires the public's help.
The school board, in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, is looking for nominations for outstanding teachers to be considered for Excellence in Teaching awards.
Candidates are teachers who go above and beyond to inspire students in creative, innovative and effective ways to prepare their students for lifelong learning and success.
Students, parents, guardians, community members and educational colleagues are encouraged to nominate an outstanding teacher for a 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award. To be eligible, nominees must hold a Nova Scotia teaching certificate, be a school-based staff member, and have taught within the CCRSB during the 2011-2012 school year.
Each candidate must be nominated by three people: a school administrator, a teacher colleague, and a member of the public.
Nomination forms are available at all school offices, through school advisory councils and on the CCRSB website. Nominations must be submitted by Feb. 28. The awards will be presented on May 1 and up to 15 awards will be given out. Each recipient will receive a certificate of recognition and $500 to use within their teaching program.
